Learn about the history of Family Camp UK

UK Family Camp was started in 2009 with Ministry Helps inviting speakers from the USA to preach in various churches in the North and South England Conferences. One of these speakers was Paul, son of the founders of Ministry Helps. He suggested to hold Family Retreats, similar to the ones he was familiar with in the USA. It would be a great opportunity to invite campers to come and spend a few days together listening to practical messages on Christian living, fellowshipping together, networking and enjoying some much needed family time in the quiet of the countryside. So Restoration International was invited to come and speak, a suitable location was found and the first UK Family Camp was held.

Since then Family Camps have been held yearly, and have been a great blessing to many. Since there was a great desire for families to meet more than once a year, the suggestion was made to hold Family Camp Reunions. These ‘Fruits of Family Camp’ meetings are opportunities for families to meet, share how Family Camp has blessed them, and invite others who might not know what Family Camp is all about to come and enjoy a day of fellowship.

Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some [is]; but exhorting [one another]: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Hebrews 10:25

Founders  Jack and Joy are encouraged to see families upholding the lifestyle that the practical Christian messages inspired: ‘We now see the young children that have attended regularly with their parents, growing up in faith and service as they approach adulthood.’

In 2024 the baton was handed over to a new team to carry on the good work. The Family Camp UK team is excited to see how the Lord will lead and bless as they carry on organising Family Camp UK in the future. They invite all to come, taste, and see.

We want to enjoy this holy convocation with you, and bring all the children you can spare from the home place, for this meeting is that which you all need to strengthen and confirm your faith, and you want to hear the message which God has for you… Be sure and bring the younger members of the family. You will never regret the expense or the trouble. – Letter 74, 1893.
